"Well...kind-a"

I have always taught my kids, honesty is the best policy...NO matter what! On that note... In the past we have never made the trip to go see Santa.  But a local furniture store was having Santa come and I thought it would be fun to let them sit on His lap and tell Him their Christmas wish.  It's Kaylee's turn to sit on Santa's lap (she was six at the time) and Santa is asking her what she wants for Christmas and then inquires of her behavior.  "Kaylee have you been a good girl this year," Santa asks? She gathers up all her courage and shrugs her shoulders and stares directly at her shoes. "Well...kinda" she says. It took everything in me to not crack up. I love the honesty of this child! I guess to seal the deal and in a desperate attempt to not get coal for Christmas, she wrote the below letter.  I found this tucked in her stocking…

“Dear Santa, I’m sorry if I was bad this year but I was trying to be good. It was really hard to be as good as you want us kids to be. So pleas don’t put coal in my stoking!  Jake was triing to be good too, but it was hard to be good. And pleas don’t put coal in Jakes stoking eather. Write your aneshalls so I know you read this note! Love, Kaylee and Jake"
